Hey guys, I got my '69 F100 home last night and went to Fordification to decode the VIN tag. The color code letter on my tag is a V which isn't listed in the chart. The letter U is listed as the color Lunar Green but the paint on my truck is quite faded and oxidized so I can't tell if it was originally the Lunar Green or the Sky View Blue.
Well if the tag says "U" then it was (at least at one time) Lunar Green. My was rattle can painted white, by the PO. When I power washed it, a lot of the white came off. It's faded to a light blue too.

Thanks for the reply, Gary. I guess my confusion lies in the fact that my VIN tag shows the letter "V" but the Fordification chart doesn't list a "V". So I was wondering if the "V" is supposed to be a "U"? I pulled the ugly a** topper off tonight and the top of the bed rails looks to be Lunar Green. The paint is evidently just that badly faded and oxidized.
Is your warranty tag difficult to read? You can do a rubbing by placing a sheet of paper over it and rubbing a crayon over that on it's side. The raised print will show up on the paper and be much easier to read.

Thank you. I did do a rub and the letter is definitely a "V" which is what was confusing me. I have come to the conclusion that the color is the Lunar Green, it was just very hard to distinguish with the paint being in such neglected condition.

Thank you SO much! I knew that someone out there would have another reference source to go by. I don't suppose that you would have a paint chip chart or reference that would show what the original color is supposed to look like?
