My EGR in my 2006 F350 6.0L seems to be giving me the famous problems it's known for.
3 months ago I was getting the black and grey smoke when starting from stopped position. I took the egr valve out and it was caked. I cleaned it almost shinny new. Now today 3 months later it has done it again. I took it apart and cleaned it again and it seemed to run fine. Now it's doing it again, get into the truck two hours later and its fine. It seems to be intermittent. What is causing this to build up with carbon so quickly? Should I just replace the egr valve or get rid of it all together and get a egr delete kit? HELP!!!!
On my '04 ive had the EGR valve disconnected for about 6 months now because i was having some issues as well. Black smoke at low rpms n lack of power. I unplugged it and all that exhaust is going to my turbo now so i get alot more throttle response. BIG difference i was very suprised. I heard with you '06s it might set a code tho so i dont know. Either way im deleting my whole system this weekend along w oil cooler. Also when you clean your valve make sure you dont get any solvent in that weep whole to mess up the actuator.
