Alright question now about the header panel since I just looked at an 02-04 2wd F250 one of my clients has (also for sale for roughly 12k, with 125k miles). But back to the questions.
All turn signals, headlights, and grill all attach to the header panel right?
How does the header panel connect to the truck itself?
Is it possible to raise the header panel up?
All these questions steam from looking at his truck up close, and seeing a normal gap between the headlights, and grill from the hood. My truck compared to his seem like all the lights and grill are to far away from the hood. So once I figure out that part of it I can get all that straight, and then go back to working on the bumper space issue.
Disregard the above question. I finally got sick of asking questions, and looking for a solution, and just went out and started taking things off the front of the truck to figure it out. Well its all back together with no spare bolts laying around (good thing). Took it down to the header panel, then saw the four bolts on the vertical post connecting it to the core support. Completely removed all bolts from the header panel, then loosened the 4 bolts to the brackets to the core support. Raised those up as high as possible, started to reassemble everything taking it up as high as possible, and waa laa. Very small gap between the hood and the grill and lights. Problem one solved.
Loosened the bumper up to raise it to match. on the drivers side I guess it has been pushed up against something because theres a little bit of a bow on the top of it, which makes that side look off. Well took that as high as I could and it does look better, but.......
I still think this is a piece of crap aftermarket grill in mine thats made in mass quanity in China by a 10 year old. The bottom of the grill (everything is square now, all lights, hood and grill at the top match up) still extends down past the bottom of the turn signals about 1/2-3/4 of an inch. This is not allowing for me to lift the bumper into the position I think it should be in.
Well I feel a lot more productive today, and dont have that churning in my stomach everytime I go to get in it from looking at the front of it. So now its going to be on to looking either for a stock grill on craigslist, or looking at some of the good aftermarket grill, and a new bumper for the final fix.
Pin! Here she is!! a little dusty and some wax on it but in good shape! If it were me I would paint the center to match truck should look real nice. Make me a offer I can't refuse ! BTW: Im easy!!
Man I have no clue how much to even offer. Comparing craigslist, to new is night and day. Let me know what you want because I would rather give my money to a fellow member than someone online.
Sorry just now saw this. Got wrapped up in finishing out the week with work. Thats a good price, but looking at this Im starting to question the bumper instead of the grill. With the way it has the dent in it, that may be causing it. Once I find a new bumper and check that, ill get back to you about the grill.
