well i wanted to fill in the hole in the lower bumper, so i made my own grill
well what i used was rain guter guard from home depo at cost of $2.06
first i cut about 6inch off he grill and bent the ends in almost flat. then i put the grill in the bumper opening and drilled two small holes in the licence plate braket and zip tied it tight and zip tied the ends also
i think when it wamer out i might paint it black, but total cost under 3 bucks
not too bad! ...but, painted black would go better with other black trim pieces/grille, etc. also should have used black zip ties (can you see those bright-colored zip ties through the grille?). Also, that Courtesy plate has to go! (sorry to be such a critic! LOL)
post that on the other forum too because some guys were asking about a grille that would work with the license plate bracket.
did you notice on the new Ford commercial, the one where they would help you out for 12 months if you lose your job or however that goes, there's a black XLT and it has some kind of bumper grille insert? You have to watch closely to see it. Not sure if it is a real grille or if they just added it "digitally" during editing.
Damn you, Silver05fx4! Now I'm looking at the front of my truck and it looks like it has a huge, empty hole lacking something! Looks like a cow could go through that hole now. You got me thinking about the mod you did. Seriously, though, that does look nice.
I picked up the Gutter guard and black zip ties yesterday.
Painted it black with some Hi-temp Grill paint last night.
I'll install it tonight or tomorrow morning.
looks nice. I might copy that for my Expy's lower grille.
btw, can't believe you are giving them that free advertising space. The dealers stupid stickers and plate covers didn't even make it off the lot on either of my Fords. I removed them and gave 'em back to the salesman and manager.
I know the some of the gang at his dealership - they love to advertise as much as possible. I think only one truck that I've owned ever got off the lot with stickers/plates/plate frames, and it was because I didn't catch it in time for some reason.
That's an awesome idea. I might copy that too if you don't mind.
