I have 1999 7.3 turbo diesel F250. When I bought it I was told there was a tune in the truck for "40 horsepower and __ torque. I called the local Ford dealership to set appointment to have truck put back to stock. They tell me no guarantee on removing it. They say it could take up to 5 hours of garage time. In other words they don't know anything. Where can I go to get it removed?
Ford dealer should be able to flash your pcm with a stock program for around $150 if I recall... I had to have mine flashed by them when someone stole my superchips programmer.
Write down the name of that dealer so you remember it and don't ever call them again.
If a programmer changed your PCM, then a simple flash for $150 or so would be normal. If there's a chip installed, I would expect about the same to pay them to remove it (just tell them not to leave the key in the ignition when they do or they will kill the PCM).
You could also look into a chip of your choice, which would over write whatever program is on the computer, so just send it in as mentioned to get it re-flashed.
