In a bind with AC need help on a bypass!!!!! Needs to be fixed in the next 10 Hrs!!!!
Wife showed up tonight with the truck, and I smelt an odd smell. Popped the hood and narrowed it down to the AC compressor. Took the clutch cover off and the main clutch bearing is thrashed... complete toast. I have a spare compressor and clutch in the garage off a 67k mile used motor but before pulling the old one and putting this "less" old one in not knowing its condition, is there a simple belt I can go buy that is shorter that completely bypasses the compressor, or is this not possible on the stock config. Do any local part stores actually sell a pulley bypass?
We are supposed to be leaving with it to head up camping with the family at 10 am tomorrow which is about 10 hours away from right now, I am trying to figure out a quick reliable fix for it that will be dependable.
A FORD dealership is about 30 minutes away, and we have NAPA, AUTOZONE, Advanced, and Oreilly all here in town... Hoping they would have something that would work for the weekend, but I hate using non OEM parts...
Please help!!!
Thanks

Pretty sure you'll have to get an AC delete/bypass pulley.

I researched those but was hoping someone had one here locally and did not have to order online...hell there are a ton of Ford truck out there without AC and FORD built them from the factory with a bypass pulley rather than a compressor so I'd thin they would be a stocked item, unless I have to run to the dealer to get one direct.
Doorman has a party number of 34185, hopefully one of the stores stocks it.
I could care less about the AC the truck is getting a 24V Cummins this upcoming year.
BTW this is for a 96 7.5

Sure hope so!
Like I said the bearing completely trashed for the pulley and is near being seized its just a matter of time.
Yeah I was hoping to just this with a shorter belt... Just wish I knew some one who had done it and what belt size they used. Otherwise I'm thinking my best bet is the newer compressor.
on some year & engines allya may need to do is buy the belt for non a/c possibly remove a/c comp or pulley to clear belt.
look up the belt routing for you year & engine both a/c & non a/c to configure from there.
if not install your used comp with new belt & away U go!

Well no one stick the bypass pulley. Put the other compressor on their and it seems gone. Picked up a new compressor and clutch with a belt to have in the truck box if anything were to happen with the replacement... Will return it, but don't want to be stranded 80 miles away from the nearest town.... Just in case

I dont know what the routing path is for the 460 but if it is possible to skip the AC and not have the new belt rub on anything or remove too much angle from something like the waterpump. If you have a clean path i would recommend getting a peice of string and feed it around the new path and measure the string so you will know the length serp belt you need.
Then check this list
Match up the ribs and the length and start calling places.

11-16 F series 6.7 bypassing AC
My friend has a 2013 F350 with the 6.7 and single alternator option. We were 6.5 hours from home yesterday and his AC compressor locked up which in turn burnt his serpentine belt in two. The parts store did not have a compressor in stock and the bypass bracket wasn't available. After searching on dozens of pages here looking for an answer as to a belt length that would bypass the AC, I had zero luck. My friend tries 2 different lengths until he came up with one that worked well. Even though the factory belt has 8 ridges, only a 6 ridge belt was available. 119" worked perfectly. He had to remove a bolt and then put it back after the belt was in place. We hauled an 11,000 pound skid steer home on top of a 3,000 pound trailer, 6.5 hours and 410 miles without one single problem. It works. 11-16 F350 6.7 with a single alternator 119 inch long 6 groove serpentine belt

Quick solution would be bypass it with a shorter belt for sure.
Dorman sells a bypass dead pulley you can bolt onto the old AC compressor mounts.
My AC clutch was seizing and coming on/off constantly from low coolant. System had leaked somewhere long ago anyway. I unplugged it and it ran perfectly smooth as a dead idler temporarily.
I put a Dorman dead pulley as no belt I could find gave me the warm fuzzy for a really good fit. Then ripped out the whole AC system. Northern Alberta summers dont get very hot and the old flip windows keep the crotch nice and cool
