OldWoodsDiesel,
I have used one from Clay, and another one from Strictly Diesel on two different 7.3 trucks. I have no leaks on either one, once you put the OEM orings on the adapters.
I prefer the Strictly Diesel one for the routing (drops down low into the valley), and Clays' for the connection design. I would never go with a pressure hose, personally. Too much heat in that area.
i agree - it looks like the Strictly Diesel one dips into the valley better. however, when i fill in my truck in the drop-downs, they say they don't carry one to fit my truck - 96 OBS. they do have ones for the superduty 7.3's though. obviously the end fitting locations would be the same, but would stuff in the valley be in different positions from our trucks to the newer 7.3's? maybe a call to them is warranted - or maybe just Clay's it is...
also - apologies for breaking up the leak joke streak. ...couldnt come up with anything witty.
I didn't think there was that much difference in the valley of the engines, other than mechanical fuel pump. A call to clay is never unwarranted. He will steer you right. You could buy one for testing purposes and send it back if it doesn't work, you should ask about that.
finally installed my crossover from RiffRaff. definitely a dramatic difference in the sound of the engine at idle. seems to be quieter at highway speed as well.
And like others have said my ICP reading is much more stable now. it used to oscillate 30-50psi at idle - now it moves no more than 10-20 psi.
i had always suspected something going on with my #7 cylinder (rearmost on the passenger side). kind of a blub-blub-blub sound at idle and a tapping sound on that side of the engine. with those sounds much more subdued now, it was apparently at least somewhat starved for HP oil back there.
i should still probably pull the rods on that side and check for a bent one... it can't be that bad as the sound goes away once off-idle, but it seems like there's something there at idle.
anyway - thanks for the HPX info, all. i definitely recommend it to others based on my experience.
With the T500 that JP is running a crossover isn't necessary. Joey's T500 and Bob's Adrenaline, both have said it has a way to equalize the oil pressure to both heads.
Well since this thread has been reawakened, it looks like it might have to move my HPO line back one space, IOT to get the HPX to fit on the 94.5 block. Did anyone else have to do that?
Installed with torque wrench, no kidding, just to be sure I didn't strip anything.

I installed because the price was right (affordable, plus was on sale with RR when I got it) and figured it would be a nice bridge between now and upgrading HPOP at some point way off in the future. I gather based on a lot of reading that results vary greatly. Seems like the balancing of high pressure oil might make a greater difference for trucks with significant variance between injectors, kind of covers up the difference. I have a fresh set of injectors in mine, so difference was subtle, not dramatic. But I appreciate subtlety.
Haven't posted here in a while, always good reading here though. Hope this helps.
One more quick point...DIY option sounds cool, not knocking that approach at all. Nice photo in post #73 of this thread. But with quality aftermarket options, I wasn't interested in attempting to build one. Not that skilled yet.
Project, when I had the ss flex line I had to move the drivers side hp line to the front. When I went with the solid line from riff raff , I had to move the hp line to the original location and the solid line bolted in.

Thanks man, I'll have to double check the SS line I got from Clay. Yours looks like it has an additional bend I didn't notice in mine. Removing my Fuel bowl and mech pump today, so I'll have a bit more room to finagle with it. Attack it from another angle
Not my pic but his is the same hard line as mine and connected the same. You should not need to remove the fuel bowl or pump unless removing for another reason
