Hey guys Ive been noticing some issues with my transmission shifting hard in what seems to be 3 or 4th gear. I seem to notice it more on an incline then on a flatter ground. Im thinking I might not have enough fluid but Im having a hell of a time getting it to be just right. The problem started after I installed a new transmission auxilary cooler. I over filled it and had the problem so I took some of the fluid out but it seems if i take a little out the stick doesnt read anything but if i fill it I over fill it. I hope this is nothing major because I dont think Ill be able to rebuild or replace this transmission if thats what im seeing
Are you checking the fluid level after the transmission has reached operating temperature? I believe the computer reads temperature of the fluid to make some shift decisions,so that may be a factor. As a last resort you might take the auxiliary cooler out of the circuit and return it to original condition to see what happens.
Well I let the truck run to operatiing conditions, not sure if the transmission is at the same operating temperture. I live on a hill so where I check the fluid im never really flat so i partly think thats one of my problems in getting a good reading. Id hate to take the cooler out of the curcuit if I dont have to but I may try that.
