remove body side trim

I have a 75 ranger xlt with a lot of body side chrome. Does anyone have any tricks to remove it as I am going to repaint the truck. How do I get them off without breaking them.

The thick top part has about 2 bolts per piece. Not sure about the bottom trim. Once you have the bolts out just start peeling it up from the bottom or top. Once you see a clip you will get the hang of it.

SOme have hidden nuts on the back(on the ends) and I believe the whole fender trim is bolted on,once you get them off, you just pull. Dont worry about breaking the plastic clips, they are cheap and you want new ones anyway

I redid a 79 2 years ago. A born and raised Northern PA truck. All the nuts came off. They are just little tin things

So, I have not attempted this yet, I just felt the nuts. Is it that the chrome pieces have a lip that curls behind the trim that goes flat to the body and an attachment piece of some material (with a bold attached to it) is installed in this channel? And this fastener or attachment piece with the bolt on it is available or I can make it somehow? I was concerned that the bolt is welded to the chrome.
