Hi.Is it possible to remove the trim from a 1970 f100?Id like to remove it from my doors,because theres a gap on the top and its getting rusty behind the trim.Thanks!

 

You mean remove the trim from the drip rail? Or remove the trim from the bump bodyline? In both cases, yes. However, reinstalling them can be a real pain not to mention the likelihood of breaking a clip. The roof rail can be removed with a bottle opener...very gently.

Yep, best way to remove body trim is with a paint scraper or putty blade. Press in on the trim...push it against the body and slide the scraper/blade along the body (carefully) behind the trim. When you feel a clip with the scraper, apply more pressure there and some downward force, then pry out with the scraper (gently). This should pull the bottom lip of the trip off the clip, then you can lift it off from the clips from the top.

plastic clip breaks in half and falls to ground .. lol
at least 50% of my clips broke apart even with being careful .
clips are like $2.00 each at LMC ,NPD or DC

 

oh and at the ends of each trim piece there's nuts that hold them on take those off first

 

I have envied yall with the bump moulding in the past. However the more I think of it, I have grown to like my stripper F100 Custom for the reasons stated above.

 

I like the body bump style on the ones that are simply part of the truck itself.But I dont like the way mine is,where the body bump is a separate piece.Anyone know why Ford made some with the trim body bump and some with the bump molded right into the sheet metal?

 

yep, keeping clips intact is optional. cleeps?? we don need no steenking cleeps!!
yeah the method I described works for the body/bump trim...if its loose enough you may not need a scraper/blade.

 

I bought all new bump trim for mine. Should be finished with the paint in another week or so and I'll finally get to see what I spent so much money on
