My truck is leaking oil and this is my first time dealing with this sort of problem. It looks to be leaking from the top of the oil pan if anyone can help me it would be very much appreciated! By the way it only leaks when I run the engine
Probably just the oil pan gasket. It leaks when it's running because that's when the oil gets moved/sloshed around. Cheap fix, easy?? depends on the truck. :P
I really need to get a better look at it. I tried to check it out today but I didn't have enough time before it got dark. Tomorrow I am going to try to check it out better

Take a look at your fuel pump. Sometimes when the inner diaphragm wears out, oil will shoot out of the vent hole while the engine is running. This can be hard to diagnose as the oil will be blown around by the fan and difficult to see wehre it is coming from.
Time for some quality time with your motor. Clean the oil off everything. Make it near spotless. Then it's easy to see where the leaks are.
And don't go changing gaskets helter-skelter. You could make things worse.
Do you have a working pcv system? If not you could be creating more leaks that new gaskets won't cure.
I inspected my PCV today and there wasn't any suction at all. I'm gonna replace it tomorrow. I started cleaning it today actually and plan on finishing after work tomorrow. lll keep updating all the way through the process here and if anyone thinks I'm doing something wrong or knows what it is, I'm open to suggestions
is it just leaking from the pan area...or can you tell if its from the front or back of the motor?
oil could leak from a number of places misleading you to think its coming from somewhere else...
I think it is coming from the front. Almost positive it is either the crankshaft oil seal or the fuel pump. I've been to busy lately ti even worry about it. Im planning on pinpointing it tomorrow after work
