torque converter question

ok, im pulling out my motor and tranny and all that good stuff. im replacing it with a 302, i blew the 2.9 sky high last week so i decided to go on and do the swap. ill be taking the tranny and transfer case to a yard, so it will get parted out there. now to my question. why do i have to undo the torque converter to flexplate bolts? ive seen people do this adn never touch these bolts, maybe i missed it, i dunno. i have no reason to keep this stuff lined up, so can i just pull the motor and forget the converter bolts? this is my first auto pull, ive done a bunch of 5 speeds, ive seen autos done, but never done them. thanx

if this is just stupid then say so and dont sugar coat it. lol. tell me like it is. this is in a 89 B2 btw.

torque converter question

Sure, you can do it, but it might just be a matter of space which dictates you remove the TC first. Otherwise, the entire engine assy might not "Fit" as it is coming out of the engine bay, hitting on the radiator first.

It's only like 4 nuts...
