torque converter AOD

I am pulling the trans on my 54 ford pick up and it has a 302 and an AOD tranny. The torque converter is stuck on the flywheel. I started pulling the tranny out and she came out about three inches but the converter is still clinging to the flywheel. I didn't pull my exhaust so I think if I do the engine will drop down the extra inch to get the case past the firewall. question : Is it odd that converter is stuck on the flywheel? I don't recall that happening before. I think the converter has permanent bolts on it and not like the chevys that use a bolt and nut. I only saw four nuts so I m pretty sure that is all they have holding it on. Just trying to talk myself thru this.

I just pulled mine and the torqe on mine at least was bolted to the flywheel.Look on the back side of the flywheel there should be 4 or so nuts that hold the torqe to the flywheel.

trans converter

Ok, no step for a stepper. she's out. I just needed a little more angle to get her out. On my list #12 was a question which I posed to myself{ Do I need to remove the exhaust pipes.] and I figured I had plenty of room so I didn't. The pipes were keeping the engine from dropping the inch and a half I needed to clear the firewall. anyway its done. thanks all for the help.
