Riser kit lifts the back seat off the floor about 4" IIRC so you can put some stuff under it. Not sure if they're even made any more since the last truck rolled out 15 years ago. I saw them in a catalog sometime in the last few years but I can't think of which one.
Oh I didn't say I'm comfortable back there...haha
But as was said, if the kiddos complain too much, tell them to buy their own truck. Being a second vehicle, I think the OP will be just fine with the Super Cab.
I do not have a riser kit on my backseat, but I fit a 4' highlift jack under there. I do agree they are low.
I voted a super cab. If you want to tow occasionally and haul stuff it will be alot better platform. I have a supercab shortbed with bucket seats in front. I just have my daughters car seat mounted in the middle of the back seat so I can just put her in and out easily between the front seats. I have also had my dog back there with her with plenty of room or the dog (australian sheperd border collie mix) will sit on the tranny hump up front. Once off the highway the dog prefers the bed of the truck. When we have a second child, if I still have this truck, I will be looking for a 40/20/40 front seat so one kid can sit in back and one can sit in the front middle.
