I just replaced my couple of year old Bosch Icon wipers. They were missing a large area in the center of the end of the stroke on the driver's side. The passenger side was missing a small area at the end of the stroke. The new wipers are missing the exact same areas. I'm thinking the wiper arm's springs have lost some umphh. They are the stock 20" size. Has anyone else run into this?
You are the wrong height. You either need to grow or shrink some.
I've seen the same voids on my truck, but I'm now running oversized wipers. The oversized wipers helped some. I also tried bending my wiper arms so more pressure would be applied. That helped a little too, but not as much as I hoped.
My issues seem to be only in certain types of rainfall now. Too heavy or too light with a long delay and I'm ok. I also switched to a different brand, but the same looking as the Icon wipers. My problem is, it doesn't seem to rain here anymore so I really don't remember how good or bad my problem has become.
I used to have great luck with Anco. Lately they seem to be about as good as the ultra cheap ones. Tried the Bosch ones, they seem slightly better, but not alot.
Chris- O'reilly's is calling out a 20" wiper for my year. Did they change them along the way? What other lengths have ppl had luck with?
I actually am running 24" have been for a while too. The only real issue is with heavy snow, and increased drag, aside from that, I don't have any lifting issues at speed.
Has your windshied been replaced? Some glass manufacturers do not have as tight of QC as others, and I have seen some have a wave.
Another question I have is how so many get so much time out of the blades. I consider myself pretty wiper conservative, i.e. not running dry etc. Now I am pretty picky though for clean glass and even at the slightest streak, if it can not be cleaned off the wiper's edge or conditioned, I replace them. Usually about twice a year.

Me too!

By cleaning the wiper blades. The mud and bugs stick to the edges and cause that streaking.

Stock is 20. Many of us are running longer wipers because they fit. As long as they're not too long, try something different. I don't remember what size I'm running, but as you can see, I'm not the only one running longer wipers.

The Bosch site calls for 20" also. I figured a longer blade would have even more of dead spot.
I'll get a 22" sometime this week and see what happens.
Does any know the difference between 22a and 22b? I know a is supposed to be for the driver's side and b is supposed to be for the passenger's side. But really, what is the difference?
One thing that may help is get some aerosol foaming glass cleaner, spray it on and let it soak for a min and then scrape window with a razor blade. Any type of film (wax, oil, grease, tire shine) on the window will cause that too. We sometimes have trucks get grease on the window and its nightmares on the wipers until you scrape it.
I think I'm just ****, I clean the blade's edge off just about daily.
That doesn't surprise me! Lol. I keep window cleaner behind my seat also. The truck can get FILTHY, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna go anywhere with dirty glass! I figured out a looooong time ago the more you can to to reduce fatigue, the better ya feel after being on the road all day.
I've had a couple windshields in my dually in its 370k mile life and a pitted windshield is basically impossible to keep clean. I'm kinda pissed right now, cause the dually has a crack in the bottom of the windshield (well below line of sight), but its not very old and still smoooooth - but the X's windshield is pitted like a loofah sponge. I'd rather replace the X's... (of course, as long as its engine is resting on the garage floor AND I'm so broke I can't even pay attention - neither is getting new glass )

Invisible glass from Stoner is all I use. Along with The new Scott Window Towels, which are great by the way.

Yep roll of glass cleaning Scott towels, and Invisible Glass in the truck all times. Mirrors glass(inside and out) at least once a week, I hate dirty glass.
If I have to ride with someone for an extended period of time, in their vehicle, I will actually clean the windows before the expedition.
People tell me, that it looks like they could fall right through my glass quite a bit.
Brad, it sound to me like you have either an aftermarket windshield with slightly different curvature characteristics, or the springs on your wipers are tired.
Also, there is no true "a/b" wiper application for our trucks... both wipers are identical. I've seen the 24" "a" but never seen a 24" "b" in the Bosch Icons.
I've run 22's, 24's and even tried the 26's in the Bosch Icons. The 24's give me a clean sweep over the entire length, and I get good life from them. Advance Auto is running a special on some newly designed Trico Onyx wipers which are low profile ad have a contoured body with the intention of having the wind helps hold them more firmly on the windshield. I finally ran through some rain yesterday ranging from drizzle to somewhat heavy, and they did wonderfully (but they are still only 2 days old, too). Looking forward to seeing how they do in a frog-strangling southern downpour.
On the 26's, I got skipped area with poor coverage.... did not keep them and swapped back to the 24's.
I've tried the Michelin low profile wipers and they were not any good for me... bad coverage and low life... streaky from very early in their life.
