Wink Windsheild Wipers??

-About 4 years ago I replaced some el-cheapo blades the po had put on my truck with BOSCH ICONs.
-Back then there was a thread on wipers going on and most folks really liked the Icons.
-There was some talk about going from the standard 20" blades to 22"
-Today I went and bought anouther set of Icons and acording to the book it says '99-'08 use the 20" and '09-'12 use the 22" I am under the impression that all SuperDuties from '99 to present use the same windsheild, and would think then that they use the same wiper arm.
-I was going to get the 21" just to try them, but got cocky and got the 22"s-I haven't installed them yet.......anyone have any advise or experiance to share with installing bigger wipers than the factory calls for?? Thanks!

I have been running over sized blades on most of my vehicles for a couple years now. And on my truck I see no ill effects until winter hits. Then I have problems with the blades not creating enought down force to keep the snow and ice clear. I do believe that it is because the wiper arm/ springs only create so much down force. Then once you spread that down force out another 2 inchs there is less force per inch. So I am going back to the stock size on my truck.

Or maybe I just need to get a new wiper arms. But wiper blades are cheaper and I change mine about once a year anyway.

On some vehicles Like my old '94 Z28 you had to run the correct size or smaller because of the contour of the windshield. (One size up and the ends of the blades wouldn't touch the glass)
Our trucks have a pretty flat windshield, You can go one or two sizes up without issue.

I think there's something to what you are saying about the longer blades 'floating' more on the windshield. I ran 22" a couple years ago and had a spot to the far left of the windshield that wouldn't clear well. In a windy downpour it would get worse. When I went back to the 20" they cleared perfectly in all conditions and perfomed better over all. Same brand and model of blade. (The Goodyear blades at Costco)

I'm running 26" blades but the passenger side doesnt touch when at rest. I'll go with 24" next time.

-Theres our friend Frank. Glad to see/hear that you are "home" safe!
-I think I'm going to put the 22" on mine.....if they work on the '09-'12s they'll work on my '99..............Love the EXPENSIVE Bosch Icons though....they lasted 4 years in the Florida heat & rainey seasons, plus 1 icey cold trip to Ohio last winter......

You can go up to 26 in but the tips have a hard time touching the windshield and when driving the wind will blow them up a little because there's not enough of hold pressure on the tips. I just bought some 22 in rain x blades because they were out of 24 in ones.

Sooo...I'm good in installing the 22"s then.....thats what they are using from the factory on the '09-'12s....same windsheild......hopefully the same wiper arm.....
-I sure don't want any trouble here in Fl because we do have a pretty bad rainy season each year and winds and of course an occasional Hurricane.....
