flashlights... headlights?

there are those of us who sometimes need a good
flashlight, or headlight when we do what we do for
a living. i've pretty much abandoned flashlights
in favor of headband lights.

most of them however, are cheap chinese deals
that produce a dirty white gray light that lets
you see about a foot and a half. largely, they suck.

couple years back, i started using a surefire headlamp,
and love it.... well, they came out with a rechargeable LED
headlamp....

SureFire Maximus

so last week i bought one.... output is 500 lumens, which
is a bit nuts for brightness. it's full range variable from 1 to 500
but it's freaking awesome. made out of magnesium.

horribly overpriced, and worth it. once you hit 50 years old,
you discover the eyes aren't quite as sharp as they used to be.

anyway, i mention it for those of you who might have a need
for such a thing.

50! Ha
I detached both retinas and with the surgery and all the laser work
I always need more light and I started that at about 35. That was 15
years ago. I think my best head lamp was made by Surefire but it is
an older one that takes 3 AAA's and it is also LED Very bright and that
is good. I have taken it camping also and makes the walk out at night
a lot easier. The only thing I don't like about them is it is not always
pointed where you need it when working under something.

I'm half your age and still try to use more lighting when possible as it is easier on the eyes. I carry a SureFire something or another flashlight. 200 lumens on bright. The headlamp I use is this. Storm Headlamp - Black Diamond Mountain Gear

It is plenty for me.
