I have a headache rack on my truck, brake and turn lights on it. I had it plugged into the flat four trailer plug in and then the right side brake, turn stopped working. I rewired the rack with all new wires, connectors and tapped right into the wires, still nothing. The fuse is ok, freshly replaced and did not blow. I have had issues with trailer wiring before on different trucks and found that they went into the fuse box, computer. I am hoping that this will be easier to fix. the truck is a 2000 F250 lariat crew short bed. It only has 157K and would like to keep it for years to come. Any help would be appreciated. the wiring trouble is not just in the flat four, it is also the bigger plug.
Was the fuse you checked in the fuse box under the hood? I had this happen a month or so ago and it was a 5 amp fuse in the box under the hood. If not try unplugging the wiring connector for the trailer wiring usually above the spare tire and use a test light there to see if it works. Good luck wiring issues are not fun.
I had no power from the plug above the spare tire. I have instead tapped the tailight wire and wrapped a wire over to the trailer plug just to get back to the shops later next week.
thank you for the help.
Had that problem earlier this year with a boat trailer; bad light socket on trailer caused a fuse to blow but it was in the fuse box under the dash, 15amp I think. Mine is a 2005 may not be the same wiring.
