IMHO its what market you live in. Say for example if you live in a farm town, or a small town were people actually use 4hi or 4lo on a regular basis like for ranch work, you're more likely to find lower trim level with some upgrades from its big brothers so to speak. When I was in Dallas, the lariat didn't come with any skid plates even though it was 4wheel. But When I went to Floresville, a small town outside of San Antonio where I got my truck, the XLs had all 3 skid plates. They had what they called City Slicker FX4s and Rancher FX4s...lol Which the only difference was the the 'City' version had leather and a center shifter, and the 'Ranch' version had sport cloth and a column shifter.(that's what I got, because seriously who has time to worry about your leather and center console when its pouring rain and you have animals stuck in a ditch and you have to step in knee high mud....NOT THIS GUY!!)
Hopes that helps slayercr23...
I miss my old truck, I could take a water hose to the whole inside towl it off and done.
