I have been looking around for 2004 F150 supercrew w/ 3.73 limited slip and seats cloths, tow trailer packages, moonroof (should I?) all power, power seats blah blah blah.
Whats different between FX4 and XTL?
The price between FX4 and XTL is few thousands different.
I will use it for daily driver, once a while beach 4x4 for fishing or camp trips etc..
Any advice or tips??
I need to be stay under $32K ( i know its hard to find forthat price!)
Depends on the options you put on each vehicle. Go to the Ford website and build both a XLT and FX4 with the same options. The price isn't that much different. The fx4 always has Limited Slip diff, skid plates, a nostril grill, the covers that wrap around the wheel wells and is avail with 18" wheels. You should be able to get a Fx4 for under $28,000 with all the rebates available.
When configuring the 2 to have identical options taking note that some are standard on one and not the other, it was a nominal $700-$800 difference for the off road suspension, cluster, cab config, and appeance difference. The XLT can be almost configured like and FX4, minus some suspension stuff and a few appearence things.

I think the FX4 is a good package, it includeds standard 5.4L, 3.55 LS, pushbutton 4WD, keyless entry, and better tires together those three alone are optional on the XLT and would cost around $1500 so there is some of the difference, most of the other stuff on the FX4 is cosmetic and thats what you'll pay more for. I don't think you will go wrong with either truck, they are both great. I went with the XLT b/c I wanted the manual transfer case and I didn't want keyless entry but the only options I added to the base XLT were the 5.4 and the tow package so I saved money but I will admit that the FX4 looks better than my truck.
Welcome to FTE!

I want 5.4L for better heavy duty tow package with 3.73s LS.
I really dont want 18" cuz i kind of dislike bling bling haha!
I guess i ll stick with 17" factory w/ tires for a while till it worn out then i ll buy BFG ATKO or Goodyear MTR, you know more fat tire and small rims 17" instead of 18"so it ll be better for beach 4x4 and more aviabable (spell) tires out there for 17" than 18" ( dont want street tires).
I think i ll go for Fx4 but less options like caption consle flow thru, leather, moon roof etc.
I have Honda Civi EX with moonroof, the sun sometime in my eyes way and annoying so i dont use it often.
I went to Fordvechical as build my own and it seems range at $33K MRSP.
What about airbags driver/passeneger sides??
Should i concern about vibration, shimmy etc that i have been reading about?? maybe i ll ask for TSB fix before they give me a key?
i have an fx4 scab 4x4 and the vehicle has both passenger and driver airbags with no shut off switch for the passenger airbag. my son sat in the front passenger seat once and the air bag off light came on. found out that if the seat senses not enough weight in the passenger front seat, the air bag will turn off. have not had a vibration or shimmy or any problems as of yet and am extremely happy with my vehicle.
I purchased the fx-4 with all available options. The only option that I did not get was the heated mirrors. With back up sensors, 18"wheels, tow package, premium sound, leather with center console shifter, sliding back glass, tint, and bed liner.................I only payed $29,700. I used the D plan at the dealership. So dont let anyone tell you that they cant do this. I have the paperwork to prove it. Most any dealership will match a sale in writing given by a competitor.
I bought the FX4 myself and I love it. I now have 6450km on it. One little thing with the driver's side door adjustment... and that's it... nothing else. Mine is a supercab though.
Yoman, just my two dimes worth. Consider the Lariat or 4x4 over the XLT. I realize that you have to decide based on your financial situation, but the Lariat is by far the superior truck. I was paying on an XLT when I found this forum. Unfortunately the truck I was really searching for was the Lariat. Don't get me wrong, the XLT is a top tier truck but the Lariat is heads and shoulders better. You might want to do a quick search on my past posts about the two trucks and my costly decision. Also I highly recommend you consider the tow package. I got it and I'll probably rarely use it. But you get a bigger radiator, alternator, battery, and bigger transmission oil cooler. Great bang for your buck and a solid truck for years to come. Mostly do all the research you can before buying. Get everything you want in the first go around, and then you can add the mods you want to later on. Good luck and keep us updated.
