My flexplate is worn out. I'm trying to find one that's 153 teeth and 15.5" diameter. I can find the right teeth count or the right diameter, but not both at once. Can anyone give me any info on a part number or where to get one of these flexplates?
It grinds sometimes when I start it up, so I looked at the flexplate and the teeth are shot. I pulled the motor and did some upgrades--rebuild, intake, carb, oil pump--and this flexplate is the last thing I need before I can put it back in. I ordered a stock flexplate, but it doesn't fit right, so I'm trying to figure out which one I need. The measurements are 153 teeth and 15.5" diameter, but I don't know what part number that is.
Hawkline, Be sure that you have the correct dust shield that centers the starter. In some applications the automatic cover is different than the standard. Also there are 2 different starter noses that Ford used which will cause flywheel problems. The smaller nose was for marine and industrial and sometimes ends up at auto stores. There is about 1/8" difference between the 2. Give this stuff a close look. Kenny
The Ford parts catalog only shows one flex plate and doesn't give any specs on it.
