I drive my Dad's 1991 F-350 most of the time and for a long time it's been doing this but we never paid attention to it but now it's doing it a little more often.
This is what it does: I may be driving along and everything is fine, then all of a sudden the engine light comes on! OK, I've done this before, I simply flip the duel fuel tank switch and wow! the light goes off! It's done this for a year or more but the engine light recently started coming on when I'd turn the headlights or windshield wipers on. All I have to do is move the fuel switch (other tank, back to first) real quick and the light goes off! I'm wondering if anyone has any ides on this or if you've had this same problem before? I know that there is nothing wrong with the mechanics because I have guages that work and a dipstick to check to make sure. This light just gets irritating after awhile. Thanks for any imput!
Oh, I might let you know what the truck is lol: 1991 F-350 7.3 diesel with Banks turbo and transcommand for the auto tranny. Thanks!
OK. That looks pretty complicating to do myself. I've heard that some auto parts stores can read your codes for free? If that's so I could stop by one Thursday and get them read. If not it'll be awhile before I have time to check the codes myself. When I get a chance I will check for bare wires everywhere though. Thanks for your help!
