np203 and np205

The Full time NP203 has a differential in it, just like an axle does. When you put the Transfer case in High Lock or Low Lock it locks this differential so that both the front and the rear pull equally. If this differential is not locked you can jack up the front and the rear will not pull. It is not a very good design.

Ok so my truck is front wheel drive. Idk if I like that or not. No wonder it doesnt do donuts like my buddies '79. I know a guy who bought some parts off of me who has the same exact truck, and he pulls with it. It's pretty much a stock truck, no major engine mods, and I guess he does real good at truck pulls with this np203 transfer case set up.

I wouldnt use it in truck pulls or anything, but if your not concerned about gas mileage and you dont do any hardcore wheeling then the NP203 is a good case. Like i said above, it does alot better then the np205 on slippery or low grip roads.

It does go through just about anything in 2wd. I wouldn't truck pull, I was just tellin the story. My T-case leaks oil in a place or two I gotta fix that one of these days.
My truck is sitting under my barn right now with the floors cut out ready to be welded then it's getting painted. Everything takes longer than expected with these trucks. Can't wait til it's done though.
