np203 and np205

Can someone please enlighten me on which years and models had divorced and non divorced np 205's. And which years did they do 203's vs 205's? I have a 78 F250 (back home so I cant go crawl under it) but im looking for a non divorced np 205.

Thanks!

73 - early 77 had divorced transfer cases in the F250's. Not sure about the lowboy's made in those years. Late 77-79 had married in the F250's. Always married in the F100-F150. Not sure about 203 or 205. I think it is random. My 78 F150 had a 203. My other 78 F250's have 205's.

Someone correct me if im wrong but I think what I found out is the 203 is the full time 4wd and the 205 is regular 2wd/4wd.

Not much, Everyone usually wants the 205. Unless some is doing a doubler, most just swap them out.

On a doubler only the low range part of the 203 is used. couple outfits make doubler kits.
Going into a CJ? keep in mind the length of the drivetrain. Its been done but makes for a short rear drive line unless you have allot of lift.
Is that going to be a ford 6.0 or a GM 6.0?
If Gm you will need a gm 203 and the correct adapter to go with what ever tranny you use.
For a Ford 6.0 your going to need ti find an adapter to bolt up a 203 to what ever tranny the power stroak has...that could be tricky. Ford dropped the 203 and the 205 in 79.

Off-Road Design makes a kit and I think Northwest Fab makes one. Save some pennies though!

Yeah i was looking at the Offroad Design. Its a chevy ls 6.0 but the jeep is being comp cut and the axle slid back and front forwards with 3 and 4 links. But its still a long setup... But $1000 is cheaper then $3000 for an atlas and adapters!!
