Hi guys. Truck's been running pretty bad. Seems to be getting worse. I start it up and let it warm up, then go. Spits and sputters as it tries to gain speed. Then, when I get it up to speed, it smooths out and runs fine. As soon as I need some power (i.e., leaving a stop sign), it spits and sputters again. This semed to be only when cold at first, but now it happens regardless of engine temp. I changed the fuel filters and oil. I use Ford filters only, and am running 15w40 rotella. I don't get my fuel at Safeway or Costco.
I have scan guage. EOT/EWT delta is 9-10 degrees all the time. ICP is 585 at idle up to 3000. FICM registers 13.5, 13.5, and 47.5, and was recently rebuilt by Ed, with atlas 40 tune. Batteries are new. Bluespring is installed. And since I did an EGR delete, I even reinstalled an egr valve to see if it would help. I'm getting no codes. I did the hot shot secret. I use the diesel kleen in every tank. Mileage has been sucking. No white or black smoke showing up except a little black on startup. Put in Glowshift 3-in-1 guage, it says I have 150psi fuel, which I know can't be right. I haven't put manual round guage on the fuel yet or checked for air bubbles.
Several people, including Ed, have told me it's the injectors. I have AutoEnginuity, and did a power balance, but the line seems to be running straight across the screen. I was expecting to see big humps but none appeared, only very slight differences once in a while. Even disabling one injector at a time seemed to make no difference. At idle, the thing sounds like its running like its supposed to.
Before I plop down big bucks on injectors is there some other thing it could be? My AE program will monitor all the sensors as I drive. Is there any particular set of sensor data that might help? The trucks up to 190,000 on it now, and I want it to go another 100k at least. I thought head studs, ford gaskets, 2007 turbo, and egr delete would pretty much bulletproof this, but that doesn't sem to be the case.AS always, I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks. By the way, its a 2005 F350 King Ranch 4x4

Reason: more data
Just make shure the numbers are taken exactly like this
Truck in PARK OR NEUTRAL all times during test
ECT at 190* or close to And EOT at 185* or higher
A/C OFF
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#1-------KOEO=Key On Engine Off =record value and POST IT!!
#2-------Low Idel (truck idel on its own)=record value and POST IT!!
#3-------High Idel (2500RPM)=record value and POST IT!!
I will take the readings when I get home this afternoon and put them up tonight. Just curious...what should the readings be under each condition (1,2,3)?
OK here are the results.
Readings were taken with a 192 ECT and 193 EOT.
At KOEO:
ICP=1
ICPV=.25
IPR%=14.84
BARO=14.61
MAP=14.72PSI/1.32V
EBP=14.8PSI/0.9V
At Engine Low Idle:
ICP=580
ICPV=.86
IPR%=23.83
BARO=14.61
MAP=15.12PSI/1.35V
EBP=17.3PSI/1.19V
At Engine High Idle(2500 RPM):
ICP=1314.32
ICPV=1.57
IPR%=35.6
BARO=14.61
MAP=16.2PSI/1.41V
EBP=20.8PSI/1.47V
Also, I do have some codes, 2 which are powertrain.
P0672 #2 Glow Plug- I have had this for a while and knew about it.
P0528 Fan Speed Sensor no signal- This one wasn't here day before yesterday when I had the thing plugged in.
I also picked up these-
U1900, B1869, P1876, P1832
ok, as promised I checked for air in fuel and fuel pressure. I pulled the ficm relay and had my wife turn the key on. The filter bowl filled up no problem and no bubbles. I then pulled the guage sender. As I mentioned earlier, I was getting a digital readout of 150 psi on my glo-shift guage. It occasionally dropped down to 145, but mostly sits at 150. I couldn't believe that, so I hooked up a manual round guage. At idle, and when revving to 2500, it read 68PSI. To double check that guage, I hooked up a different round guage I had. It read 62 PSI. In any case I'm over 50. Does that high fuel pressure hurt anything?
I have to admit I was a little hesitant to bury the pedal but am open to any suggestions. I kept thinking of that YouTube video I saw of the guy getting crazy revving his motor then BAM!!! and the audience cheered....My truck still starts and seems to idle fine. l I dont get it.
By the way, as I was checking fuel pressure I had the fan disconnected, as the d$%n plug kept getting in the way of my wrench. The truck started anyway. Someone told me that the truck won't run if the fan ain't plugged in. Guess they were wrong.

Thats Fine
IIRC the orings on the inject are good to 70-75psi
