05 EX buffing smoke and missing when hot
heres the list of whats done.
egr delete with edge tuner 80hp tune and egr off
bullet proof oil cooler plate with custom cooler and filters, i rung the factory filter and the amsoil bypass kit,12an lines and 185 thermostat.
new hpop in the fall
4 new injectors, 4 buzz tested good injectors with good seals. new nipple cup o-rings and new plug and stand pipes.
pressure tested at 120 psi and the only noise was some of the injectors would pop oil out of the exhaust on the injectors, the 2 holes on top, it was a snapping sound. some of the new and old ones did it. new injectors, not reman form KT.
new IPR and ICP, idle doesn't change when the IPC is unplugged.
new 240a alternator, fully charged batteries and a third bat on a isolation relay, only connected when running.
AE shows 47 volts when cranking and 47.5 when running on the FICM
ipr is about 30% at idle.
desired and actual pressure are dead on.
turbo vanes cleaned last winter, and looked good.
4" turbo back
new fuel filters and blue spring, holds 65 ish psi at idle.
fresh oil and filter, t6 oil.
there was a lot of fuel in the last oil change after I did the injectors, i figure having 4 out for a week may have leaked into the cylinders. never had that before on any other change.
heres the problem.
starts great, short crank and it fires. sometimes it feels like its missing when driving. then when it get to temp it starts surging or missing at idle, it will even kill the truck, when it does this it puffs black smoke.
AE shows all cylinders equal but when it surges they all spike then drop. when I buzz test all buss fine then number 4 doesn't always single click, I've swapped 4 with other injectors that I know work and its always the same 4 doesn't want to click. number 4 is right under the FICM and the harness isn't chafed at all, so I dont think its the harness, I also moved the harness while running and nothing changed. I also have reset the connectors multiple times on the FICM. theres no codes either, there was before I changed the ICP, but not anymore.
I really hope someone knows what is going on, its driving me nuts. Thanks for the help guys!

i was watching it last night because it was doing it bad, everything the contribution would drop low then spit the smoke and ti smelled like kerosene. so its dumping a bunch of fuel or its not burning it.

took the truck to a local diesel shop and they couldn't figure it out.
last night i drove it for a while, it starts to feel like its running on 6, and puffs smoke.
when i got home and it was hot abut 185, I tried restarting a few times. each time the factory buzz test quit.
Im thinking the ficm logic board is toast when hot.
any thoughts?
Im sending it to ficmfixer in texas for testing. he's half the price as ficmrepair. I wish I had someone local that could test it but Im new to the state and dont know anyone here.
