You won't get 9.5:1 with 95cc heads unless you deck the block, run higher compression pistons for your block, both or some combination that will increase compression. Your compression should be something like 8:1 with (I think) 93cc chambers. 1st you will be increasing your volume by moving to 95cc chambers which will lower your compression unless you do something to compensate for it. If it were me & I am not saying buy the Edelbrock heads, I would buy the smaller chambers & you still will not be at 9.5:1 but at least quite a bit closer. The smaller chamber more closely resembles the early heads that are the good cast heads. This is assuming the heads are the same with exception of chamber size.
I was planning with higher compression pistons., but I may just get the block decked, or may get the smaller heads. All depends on the condition of the internals of the motor I buy I guess. We will see. Scott pointed me toward a great shop here local so when it's time, the machine shop and I can figure out what I need to do to get my results.

Great. I think you will be far happier with the shop Scott recommended than the 1 you had listed assuming they are different. Of course without using both you will never know
Messed up, he is in WA not MI. I talk with a guy from MI that is also pretty knowledgeable on these engines. I would also bet the expense may be lower with this new shop. He sent you to someone who knows the 385 series so they won't waste any moves.
Keep us updated... I'm not far from you, just outside of Springfield. I'm shooting for 500-600 HP myself, selling my Mustang (anyone interested lol) so this is my new toy. I like the aluminum for the weight reduction as well, and cost for me is worth it between machining my current as well as rebuilding the stock, besides I don,t think I have the good heads. Anyway, if nothing else its a new adventure :-)

All my updates from now on will be in my build thread which is in my signature.
