Hi,
I am needing some opinions on my engine build. It's a 75 Lincoln 460 which has been bored .30 over which makes it a 466. I am planning to put it in my 1979 Ford F150 4X4. I am going to be using it to bog on occasions and then a daily driver when gas permits.
I am using D3VE heads and the machine guys said that they don't need no work because I just bought them from some guy who said the college had an auto shop and they worked on the heads. So they are fine.
I've found out my engine has a sleeve in it and I had it replaced with a thicker one. So that should be all good.
I am going to get some Probe FPS pistons.
I am debating what cam and other items to get.
I am looking for around 425hp but excellent torque.
I just want to build a mild 460. Any ideas what I should get?
Just because someone at a college built it doesn't mean anything. Look over that sleeve, make sure the block wasn't bored all the way down through. The boring bar should have stopped just before going all the way down so the sleeve can't move down into the block. Your D3's will need some port work, at least blend the bowls & get rid of the smog bump in the ex ports. I'd go with a hydraulic Lunati #00096 grind.
