I have just bought a 1968 Bronco from an old guy who handed me the title. I cannot find where the vin number is on the vehicle. I did an internet search and found that the '67 has it on the cowl, but the '68 has it in the glove box. All I found in there was a metal sorta clip a bit like a money clip, which was on the left side of the glove box.
Is the vin repeated on the frame somewhere? The vehicle is from out of State so I have to have it inspected before registering it.
The glovebox door is the most likely, although easily tampered with. 66 only had them on one of the kick panels, I believe drivers side. The earliest I've seen the stickers inside the door jamb is early 71.
But, there is a number stamped on the frame. Most of the time, it can be found on the passenger side frame rail at the front just behind the coil tower and shock mounting. I have seen them on the top of the frame and on the side. If you use a wire brush on that area, you should be able to find it.
I have also seen them stamped elsewhere on the frame in several places.
