Radiator replace

97 4.0. I need to replace my Rad. Do I need to remove the Fan clutch to remove the Radiator? I'm hoping to just loosen the shroud & pull the Radiator.

You can just remove the shroud and pull it. Its easier with everything out of the way however, but removing the fan/clutch requires special tools. And its actually not easier unless the clutch decides it wants to come off. Just be carefull going in with the new rad that you don't damage it.

Easiest way is cut a slit in the bottom of your fan shroud in the middle. Then just pull the shroud off like a c-clip. Getting the rad in and out is pretty close but it fits.

There are Two clips on the side of the Rad holding the shroud on/in. Can the shroud be lifted out of the clips without removing the fan clutch? It doesn't look like it can be done. Can you elaborate a little more on removing the Rad without having to remove the fan clutch.
