I have a 99 f350 and need to change out the radiator as leaks are too much and there is 175k miles on it. My question is do i need to remove the fan and clutch to get this out....or can it be done without removing them? I just did the waterpump a while back and took me 3 hours to get that dam fan off!
I remember about a way to remove the front crossmember to get that stuff out. Might want to look into that. I think it was done on a truck of about your year. Trucks TV did it when the guy wanted to put a bigger intercooler in for a banks power setup.
NO YOU DONT HAVE TO REMOVE THE CROSSMEMBER.
Drain from petcock
remove 3 bolts from rad bottle
remove 2 bolts from top of fan shroud
remove all hoses and tranny lines if needed
need 1 person underneath to guide past the fan shroud but it can be done by one person
drop new one in, make sure fan shroud tips go into radiator when reassemble and not accidentally hit the petcock and crack it....I know and cost me a whole new radiator.
Next time go to NAPA and get the right tools...3 hours would have been 5 minutes with the tool kit.
