Fellas,
For the radiator replacement, how do i remove the fan clutch and fan from the engine? I will not be putting it back on and i will be installing a twin fan electric. Anyone have some specs or tools needed? I know it is left hand threads so you go opposite to normal. Thanks!
Wrecker your has not been on there too long, so what I have done a couple times when I was on the road is use a large pair of channel locks and take it off without removeing the belts so they hold it.
I have a wrench that I just cut out of 1/4 in. steel that has always worked if I am at home.
I used a really "big" cresent wrench and gave it a good whack with a sledge hammer to break the nut loose. Did this on both my trucks when I changed the water pumps last year. Leave the belt on while you do that.
You don't need to remove the fan to change the radiator, just unbolt the shroud and pull it back toward the engine, you won't be able to pull the shroud out but that does not matter. Don't forget to slide the shroud over the fan before you re-install the radiator or you will be taking the radiator out again.
I would stay away from electric fans, the existing fan clutch and fan works great so why mess with it. Not to many people that had great success with electric fans.

Maybe i can have my dad do that on the plasma cutter! What is the dimension of that nut??
Well now we are going back over 20 years. How good do you think my memory is lol.
I think the nut is actually metric but I belive I cut the wrench 1 3/4 inches patterned of a wrench (the wrenches are too thick).
Before the diesels even came out international had the same setup on gas motors. I had a guy bring me a motor to remove the clutch and the left hand thread warning is on the fan shroud not the engine. I wound up removing it with a torch then found out about the left hand thread thing, what a pita.
