Just use the jumper wire in the harness under the dash, You ground it while the ABS light is on and it will flash the fault code. Once you have that code you can start to track the problem down. Most the damn time some DA used a screw driver to push the front brake pads apart, without opening the bleeder valve, this forced the fluid backwards through the system and screws it up. You might check all your light bulbs including the 3rd eye. they all must work or the ABS system kicks on a fault.

I did some searching and couldnt find how to retrieve abs codes manually on a 98 Dodge. Do you know for sure this truck has that capability?
Not an expert but the grounding of the diagnostic connector only works for trucks with RABS (called RWAL by GM). For full 4 wheel ABS you need an ABS enabled scanner. You need to find out if that Dodge is RABS or full ABS.
