Reason: more info
Does it have 4 wheel ABS or just rear wheel abs? The most common reason they turn on the ABS light is that the speed sensor on the differential goes bad. If the brakes work fine other than the light then that is probably the problem. Does the speedo work? In '01 the ECU controls the ABS. It's not a separate computer like the earlier models. You just need an OBDII code reader.
thanks pfogle. I do have an obdII scanner but not an abs scanner. It is 4wabs previous owner said rear sensor was changed but code remained.Brakes work fine.I replaced the rotors.I'm wondering if maybe PO got air in the abs pump but i would think i would feel it in the pedal no?If i can get the code off the abs light i can fix it.If i plug my scanner in i don't have any codes.I don't want to buy an abs scanner if possible. Thanks. dennis btw, speedo is ok
lol where i live slamming on the brakes is an everyday occurrence.seriously i have done that and abs does not activate.could be front sensor.i cleaned them up when i put the rotors on and the tips looked ok and the magnets worked maybe the wiring?Really, the light being on is more annoying than the problem itself.
