Nevada September BS Thread
What are you thankful for related to this week?
I'm thankful that I didn't get hurt (other than 2 scratches & a small bump/bruise about the size of a pencil eraser on my lower right leg) when I dumped/dropped the Ninja yesterday! The poor Schwan's guy that Jimmy was talking to about 4 ft away practically jumped out of his skin.
Normally I park it under the awning facing out, but I decided to face it in yesterday & when I tried to park it, I was going to fast (about 2-3 mph), didn't apply the foot brake hard enough, so I applied the hand brake too(& hit the gas at the same time) , so I hit the hand brake harder & turned slightly to the left to avoid hitting the porch & awning support pole. It stopped & I let it drop as I stood over/straddled the bike to avoid going down w/ it! I shut it off & checked to make sure nothing was damaged & that I was ok, then Jimmy helped me pick up the bike. I just wasn't prepared for something like that, like I shouldv'e been.
The bike isn't damaged either, however...I do feel like an idiot!
I guess that's what I get for riding/parking a street/sport bike on the dirt. (God, I can't wait until we get our driveway paved!)I'm also thankful that I'm taking the class this weekend as well. Hopefully they'll teach us how to crash properly to avoid injury & how to pick up any motorcycle no matter how heavy it is, as well as the rest of the stuff!
P.S. I don't think the female instructor would want to see me in a bikini, but that's not a bad idea if I was the only one taking the class & the instructor was a male. LOL!
I am Thankful for today. Payday. I get to make the Bronco legal for the street, and take it off its non-opl

Donna,
Thanks for the call. We are headed home to Arizona. Congrats on being a bike owner. I get any work done on my bike if needed @ White Knuckle in Yerington, when in Northern Nevada. There is a shop in Sparks that is owned a guy Brian. It is on Glendale by Summit Racing. Michelle knows him. I met him at Lahonton, one summer when we met Michelle.
Other than that I get most of my stuff done in Las Vegas @ Carters Motorsport or a shop in Yuma. Finding reputable shops that don't take weeks to get work done is difficult at best.
White Knuckle in Yerington has been in business for some time. They race & have been involved with VORRA. At least I know they have raced with VORRA in Yerington & Fallon. Good people, honest, fair priced, very good work.
Hope this helps.

Do you also know of any motorcycle savage yards for hard to find parts?
White Knuckle in Yerington had a a salvage yard at one time. About 4 or 5 years ago they moved to Main St across from the Casino West. I'm guessing they still have stuff. Call them. I just bought a new front tire for my 06 Suzuki SV 650 S from them & they installed it a couple of weeks ago. Great ride from Lee Vining to Yerington then into Hawthorne & home.
I'm kind of out of the loop in Northern Nevada these days. We have been gone for too long. Most of my contacts are in Southern Nevada & Arizona these days. I know a couple of guys from Carter Motorsports in Las Vegas They drag race @ the Strip in Las Vegas. My buddies boy races a Dodge Duster in Vegas. So that is how I hooked up with Carters. Not many 62+ year old men riding fast Sportbikes. The young riders are always giving me the thumbs up.

TGIF! Time to get this weekend started.
Have a fun Friday & enjoy your weekend!

I probably won't be on this weekend because of my class, so everyone play nice & be safe out there. (Look who's talking, right?
Hopefully no crashes this weekend!) I'm worried that I won't pass the riding portion of the class. Wish me luck guys...I'll need it!
