I have the Turbonetics BB turbo. They don't make it anymore, from what I understand. I have one of the last ones they made. I don't know how much HP it will take. But, I'm running with some with close to 500 HP.

All the turbos he mentioned above are also drop in "performance" turbos... They are just not as good as the Garrett GTP-38r.
Thank you for the correction, I wouldn't want to mislead anybody. If I know Joe... and if he's drinkin' milk... there'd be a milk spew right about now.
Sorry for the long reply, Was away for the long weekend racing.
I will start by saying I have smoke tested my entire charge pipe system. No leaks anywhere. But there is some oil in the pipes.
Also My inducer wheel is chewed to hell.
It Does have some leaks before the Turbo. But it really does need to be replaced.
I gave it a full check over before I came to this conclusion.
I Was leaning more at the Turbonetics BB. I realize they dont make this anymore but my supplier has 4 of them left in stock bran new and I can get it for 1200 bucks. Thats taxes, shipped... the works.
Any idea on the Garrett Turbo price? I run a 35R on my Car and its an amazing turbo. Would love to have another if its worth it.
Thanks for the imput.
Humm. My turbo seems to do pretty good against the 38r.
I tested 13 differnet combo's of that turbo over the 3-4 years I was dealing with Turbonetics and BWD... Each one got better and better, but I cant say that a single one was "better" then the 38R.
Quieter, yes
Rebuildable, yes (mostly)
Top end performance was very close, but it always lacked on the bottom...

What happens if you have an issue with the TN BB? You have no warranty, no support... It cant be rebuilt now due to Turbonetics discontinuing it.

If it is chewed that bad.... I would do a compression test BEFORE I invest in a turbo. JMO.
You must be like me, scan/speed read posts and miss stuff.
That info was posted back on post #4.

Well, 99% of respondents have told you not only to stay away from the turbonetics, but also recommended (highly at that) the 38R, so I'm not sure where you're confused. If I were you, it would be clear from the posts that it's very much worth it.
I am not really a cat person but this is TOO funny !!The cat is actually kinda freaking me out.....
And your statements are very much on point. I also think Joe pointed out some very good reasons to stay away from them turbos.
I know that I'm sort of turbo-stupid, but will ask anyway...
Isn't $1300 quite a bit to spend on something which cannot be rebuilt (at least, from what I've read the 38R is not rebuildable, and I may have even gotten that info wrong)? Or does "not being rebuildable" even matter in terms of how long the thing should last (and I'm sure the life expectancy will vary with use/abuse). Still, though, if you assume that you'll keep it for 10 years, that's still over $10/month for a "throw away" item... and I guess in breaking the cost down that way, it doesn't sound quite so bad, but it's still $1300.

Your really out of options for a turbo that can be rebuilt that mounts on the factory mount...
I have a 38R that has over 130k on it now, many 45-50 psi runs and been pushed pretty hard. Its still fine.
I prefer a T-4 or T4i type turbo, but thats just me and more money.
