First I would like to thank all of you on here. I have been reeding this forum for about 2 years now and learned a lot. I purchased a 2005 f250 ccsb. It has had many upgrades, egr delete, blue spring, 58v FICM. The oil cooler was done under warr, and since had the coolant drained and ELC put back in.The EOT to ECT delta is good at 5 deg. It has had no work done to the HPOP system. No STC or stand pipes. With the Scan Gauge I am closely watching the ICP at start up, hot and cold.Should I also be watching the duty cycle? I am trying to head off a problem before it happens. Do any of you guys monitor HPOP operation? A lot of good ideas out there, just wondering what others are doing.
Your first sign of trouble will be a delayed hot start, then a no start when hot. I would invest in new dummy plugs and standpipes along with the upgraded STC fitting. You could wait it out until you get these symptoms. Cheers
When the STC fails in a mild fashion it will leak and cause a hard start/no start condition. If it blows out severely it can crack the rear cover...and that can get expensive.
It is a 2005, it has a label on the pass side valve cover. I forgot to say, it does have high miles 150k.
At 150k miles I have my doubts your STC fitting is the original...pretty much all of them failed between 60k-80k miles. The dummy plugs and stand pipes...I'm willing to bet they've also been replaced/updated. Did you get an Oasis on the truck? Those most likely would have been warranty items when they failed (before 5 years/100k miles).
I did not get an Oasis, a friend had it since about 70k miles. He got it in 2008. All he said was the oil cooler was done under warranty before he got it. I to have my doubts the SCT is the original, maybe I need to dig in there and take a look.
