pulled trans apart tonight.found it has been rebuilt and a billet converter and a shift kit.Now is the ? when i had it running the OD light would flash after i'd rev it up.back at idle it may go off or still flash.kill it and restart and it would'nt flash till i'd rev it agian.so i pulled it apart and found that none of clutch's were burnt most still had the part number's still on them.and fluid was clean as was the pan.just wondering what would cause OD light to flash like that.could it have been something reading from the bad motor?
thanks john

It could be a bad electrical connection, or a bad sensor, or a bunch of other things. I sure wouldn't tear down a transmission because the OD light flashed. Without knowing the codes that are stored you can't have a clue as to what's wrong.

Not true. The slip code can only set in fourth gear with the torque converter locked, but there is no way to tell what is slipping. It could be the torque converter or it could be the transmission.

That is the critical question. Without knowing the code you probably won't be able to fix this.
P0713 Transmission Fluid Temp. Sensor CKT High Input
P0470 Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction.
P1280 ICP Circuit Out of Range Low.
P0122 Accelerator Pedal Sensor Circuit Low Input.
had this one to but cant find it in the list p1748.
Now from what all i've read about the OD light flashing.most say the trans would most likely need a rebuild that's why i'm asking. Now me i'd rather open it up and look at it while the motor is out. than put it back together and then have to pull transfer case and trans back out.
thanks john
Go ahead and pull the trans down. While you're in there check the trans fluid temp sensor and the wiring to the sensor. There is an electrical fault in that circuit causing the OD light to flash and the hard shifts. There is also a fault to the pressure control solenoid that is setting the P1748. Both of these are pointing to a wiring harness problem.
If he has a app code and the od starts when he revs it...I wouls be checking that concern also...not that the other things are not important...nice list of codes though very nice indeed
