IAC issues no dtc

Guys...my 2000 v-10 sd is stalling out on me. It started a while back occasionally it would die right after start up, once in a while. now its up to several times a day and even when stopped at a red light. I suspect its the iac valve...so I pulled it last week and cleaned the carbon off. you know the feelng when you THINK you've fixed it and then, damn it does it again... will the IAC throw a code ? ive cleaned the maf as well . I have a new motorcraft IAC valve , but wanted to double check with you guys before I tore into it. Thanks

Bad IAC will not set a DTC as far as I know. Can you get the truck to start and idle by using the accelerator?

The IAC will not cause a CEL or DTC. Sounds bad to me. Cleaning them doesn't always do the trick. Replace it since you have it.

If the new IAC doesn't fix it then.... I would suspect the COP's. You could have one or two failing although usually you would only see it stall in gear and not right after start up. IAC, vacuum, MAF are about it for start up.

As other have said I would start with replacing the IAC since you can get it to start with some accelerator pedal input.

And while your at it pick up some MAF cleaner and carb cleaner. Clean the MAF sensor and clean the throttle body. Important maintainence that people overlook
