wtf ideas see inside

ok so here are the details of my WHAT THE **** issue

i have a 2wd 2001 7.3 child hauler .. i have now a new interesting issue .. when going to start the truck the truck sounds like its starting slowly and dying ( keep in mind i usually just jump in and key on then start and go and it is 70*plus here) now i was like WTF so i keyed on waited a second and then it started fine .. this is happening every time unless i wait a few seconds .. then it does not happen ... i watched my gauges and it turns out that the battery gauge is only in the first quarter of range of motion then after a second it jumps to the normal half way mark .. its like there is a switch that takes it from one battery to two battery's ... ( at least that's my feeling on it lol) now im not one for glow plugs because it has not been cold enough for them to need to be used ,.. all it takes to start normally is a two - three second wait .. but it still sounds slow... i checked the batteries and they seemed ok there about two years old .. now one of the cells on one battery was low so i filled it up .. once running everything is working fine.i have no clue what would cause it but oh well

i thought i would throw this out there and see what you all might think it could be

What are the amps before you turn the key on?

What are the amps while the key is on, glow plugs warming, engine off?

What are the amps when cranking?

You don't wait for the glow plug light turn off before start up the engine?

My 6.0L with checking the glow plug light turn off before starting and it varies in cranking time befor the engine start to run. I am just happy that it started evrytime so far

You do in Vegas? It's warm there!

When the engine is cold, I wait about a two-one thousand count before starting mine, sometimes less. When it's warm I don't wait at all.

for your 6.0
your glow plugs won't "need" to be on until the motor is in the 50's or colder. they are utilized, and stay on each time you start the X for about 1-2 minutes after running however

I've never seen my glowplugs wait to start light lit

Just grab your starter and try to move it around just to check that. Isnt the volt meter after the starter?
