I have a 1978 F350 Crew Cab, when I got it the AC didn't work at all. First they changed the valve to the evaporator, dryers, and flushed the system and charged it. Ran cold for a couple weeks then seal went out of the compressor. Changed out the compressor, dryer and the condenser coil, ran cool, not cold. Now after two more compressors (seals went out) etc. still runs cool not cold.
Has the system been converted to 134a? And are you sure the compressor is charged with the proper amount and type of oil? There are a/c supply places online that will tell you the proper amount on refrig. to put if it is converted, maybe the charge was not correct. r134a requires different seals hoses, and oil than r12 does.
I have a 99 , and the bearing in the pulley has gone bad, growling real bad.
Still the w/o works perfectly.
I see that ford no longer sells the pulley.
I have another complete compressor with pulley and clutch, and want to just change out the pulley.
Has anyone done this, and do I need a puller to get the pulley off after removing the clutch?
