Need help with FICM install

I'm ready to install my new FICM and while checking out the wiring harness for any damage I notice what appears to be a ground wire that isn't attached to anything. Should this be hooked up to anything. This is in a 05 Excursion 6.0.

Yup, it goes under that nut right below it ( just inside the circle in your picture). Good catch it does matter!

IIRC, that's a FICM ground and should be attached to the nearest intake manifold stud. I believe it's the stud at the very rear.

It's between the FICM and Y-pipe. Angle of the picture might be messing you up.

Actually it looks like someone cut a aluminum radiator fan blade off and made a heat shield. All in all it looks like they did a good job. From what Ed at FICM shop has said heat shields are good but you have to make sure air flow is not restricted around the FICM..... hard to tell if that is the case here. Either way I don't think this is OEM from FORD .

That's a ford heat shield go's behind ficm', then behind hpop' cover (connects to it with 2 8mm bolts and then hooks over the egr' cooler. I have one on my 06 truck. Gets in the way when removing the hpop' cover. Hard to get out hard to get in

That's why I asked if someone replaced his stc' fitting. You have to remove the heat shield and that ground wire connects to the same valve cover bolt that holds the heat shield on and there's your guilty party!
