Hello everyone. I've been looking for a site like this for awhile now. Long sorry short. When my grandpa passed a couple years ago (he was a rancher) he left behind alot of trucks and tractors. Needless to say junk collectors and scrap collectors were worse than a hoard of locusts. Unfortunately, due to transportation costs and whatnot I had to leave behind a 43 Ford 2 ton, and a 42 Chevy 3 ton cab and chassis both running although the ford was hurting really bad. I did bring home what i believe to be a 66 Mercury M100. I will try to post some photos of it.
Thanks I will have to grab the vin next time I'm out at the farm. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I have debated just trying to find a box, fix the brakes, new set of tires and have it as a special day driver or rat rod it, or sell it. I wasn't about to let the scrap collectors get it for pennies. Any idea from the pictures what its worth ballpark?
Have you checked out the "classics" section on Kijiji? I check it weekly for parts for mine, already lugged an $800 '65 Custom Cab home from SK. There are quite a few '65 / '66 Ford and Merc trucks to get an idea of current prices. Lots are already done, lots not so done!!!
That looks like you kept the best one. You came to the right place for information and insight. Welcome to FTE Tons of good info and great group of helpful people as well.
First and foremost Welcome to FTE. There are some of the Best people you will find here to help you out in your efforts.
Now, to your selection of trucks. Should you ever have second thoughts or feel over your head. We have all been there, and if you get there and stay there I can assure you you have a truck NO ONE would tell you to take to the crusher. There are many guys here who would either buy either buy that truck because of what it is, or would love to have the stuff that makes a Mercury different. Heck I would love to have all the Merc stuff to make a Pretender out of my truck. No matter how this turns out for you,
Good luck and be sure to ask questions before you spend when ever you are not sure. I spent a lot of money I shouldn't have and later guys here helped me to understand the better places to spend money.
Truck looks great and welcome aboard; I would leave as is and flat clear the old patina look. I agree scrappers are like never thinking of the potential a vehicle has; just the $$ sign.
