C6 shift lnkage remove/install
1971 F100... when the plastic bushings that holds the shift lever rod to the trans selector lever and the other end of the rod to the steering column are new I can't believe how hard it is to remove/install the shift lever rod. I must be doing something wrong. Has anyone ever replaced the plastic bushings before? I can't get this thing back together. Please help

Same removing the rod from the gromet, only use a thinner socket
