I have a 2004 super cab 4.6l with a 6.5 ft bed. I was thinking of loading a 6 foot camper on it. I do have the factory tow package on it but i still don't think it's adequate to pull a camper. I'm guessing the rear springs might be ok but i definitely don't have a sway bar on the rear axle or anything to tie down the camper. First, is there such thing as a "aftermarket camper package" that will bolt on to my truck? Does Ford provide one? I apologize for my ignorance in this subject in advance.
What's the dry weight of the camper? Do you know what your payload capacity is? The available payload will be posted on a white and yellow sticker on the drivers door jamb. I have a feeling that your camper will be over your available capacity once you add passengers and gear.
I would stop at the Camper Dealer near you for your needed gear. A few items will add to your drive. Your pro spring shop can help you in the load area so as not to tail drop a few inches. Of course the unload drive may be a little harder. A F250 area is best way to start with wide frame and all but you got the F150 and it will work great with a little help. You definately want to stop sway as much as you can. Making sure of your front is a good start in that direction. Even Bilstein 5100's for more in the package.
