Camper vs Stableizer Package

Trying to decide on an option. The camper or stableizer package. The camper package takes 213 lbs off the useable weight while the stableizer package only take 62 lbs off. Other than the camper certification, is there much else difference?

Thanks

Bill

I researched this same issue when I bought my truck. If you never plan on carrying a camper OR hauling maximum loads, you don't need the Camper Package. The only thing that I wanted out of the Camper package was the rear stabilizer bar. I ordered the Stabilizer bar package. This is only true if you are ordering the F250. F350 has the overload springs standard. The sticker and certification are worthless to me as I only intend on towing travel trailers and wanted the super duty for the towing "beef" it offers.

Does the camper package change the front spring weight? I've seen Ford litature list it both ways, that it adds front or rear spring weight. I'm sure one of these was a type-oh. Just courious. (I ordered mine with the camper package).

Thanks

Bug Splat, if I remember correctly, there are 3 "levels" of springs for the front. With no camper or tow pkg., you get the lightest spring capacity. With the camper pkg., you get the medium spring capacity, and with the tow pkg., the heaviest. I don't remember the limits of each.

....And then you also have the snow plow prep. package, which adds the heaviest front springs and 5200lb. axle.

i think that with the front end the axle stays the same but the spring ratings change. if you get the diesel you will also get the next higher rated springs.

According to the 2004 brochure with the stabilizer package you get heavy-service front springs, while the camper package includes computer-selected, heavy-service front springs. I assume they might be the same springs. Stabilizer pkg also includes a rear stabilizer bar while the camper pkg also includes auxiliary springs and rear stabilizer bar. Just realized after visiting this site for almost six months, this is my first post.

Lightbulb Change in Ride

Thanks for the info. Next week I am taking delivery of my first truck a 05 F350 6.0L PS crew king ranch. Last week I drove the same truck and it appeared that the ride was better to the identical 04s that I previoulsy drove. Is there really such a difference?

With the new coils on the '05, I'd guess yes.
