Camper Package???

Not really sure where i should post/ask this so i'll put it here and if it get's moved that's cool. I can't seem to find a whole lot of info about the camper package on the SD's. Is the only purpose of the package for if you are planing on using a slide in or is it a good package to have if you plan on towing any sort of camper? Figure Wrench and some of you other die hard camper pullers might be able to help me with this.

I think it's more for the slide-in campers. The camper "certification" that Ford bestows upon your vehicle with the selection of the camper pkg. If you were to get into an accident with a slide in in the bed and your truck wasn't rated or certified for it, it could cause you some undue headaches. it seems to be a bigger deal to some people that have slide-ins. The increased front GVWR in the front can't hurt also if you want that extra capacity.

What Foxtrot said is exactly right. The only thing I would add is if memory servese me correct the camper package adds a sway/stabalizer bar as well. I know with my dually camper package it handles like a dream and I don't have a camper.

Ill tell ya this much I don't even have a camper but I am so gald I got the camper package on my 05 F250 PSD LB CC. It gives you the overload spring on the rear thus when I hook up my 27 ft enclosed snowmobile trailer the weight of it sinks the rear of my truck untill it hits the overload and then stops . The rear sway bar helps with the steadines s of the truck in cornering . I would always buy one with the camper package doesnt effect the ride one bit otherwise. Well worth it!!!!!

I have an 04 F-250 CC, SB, Lariat, 4x4, FX4, and I too have the camper package, and I love it. I wouldn't buy a truck without it. I agree, that it IS well worth it!!

Camper pkg adds rear stabilizer, rear overload springs, 400lb heavier front springs. I'm really glad I got it on my '05. I got that & skid plate pkg vs fx4. I think the rear sway bar makes the biggest difference (while unloaded).

Was doign some practice building on the ford website and it's saying i can't go with 20" rims and have the camper package. Anyone know if that's just a glitch or the truth. Really don't feel like messing with a dealer atm. Or they may be tired of dealing with me LOL. I tend to get there hopes up and then say thnx see you in another month.

20 inchers

BigFord,

I don't think it's a glitch on their website... It's stated in the 06 buyers guide that the LT275/65Rx20E OWL AT is an option for the Crew Cab SRW 4x4 only and N/A w/66D Pick Up Box Delete, 532 Camper Package, or 86M Snow Plow Prep Pkg. PolarBear was nice enough to send me the 06 buyers guide - you can now download it or PM me and I can send it to you.... I thought about the 20's when I placed my order, and made a decision that the Camper Package would be more beneficial to me... Good Luck!!!

I was at the dealership tonight and we talked about the camper package. The salesman told me that the springs (2-up front springs for the 4x2) will handle an additional 300 lbs) and springs (1-up front springs for the 4x4) will handle an additional 400lbs. Don't know what the 2-up/1-up spring configuration means .........I pulled it straight out of the 05 brochure (look on the bottom of page 31). The rear also gets a swaybar.

My dealer is working on a "dealertransfer" and one of the deciding factors (options) was the camper package. Not planning on putting in a camper but I know having extra capacity doesn't hurt! If I'm lucky, I'll be in a 250 tomorrow afternoon!!!!
