slidein camper certification
Hello I was thinking about buying a 1999 F350 Diesel Crew Cab 4x4 Long Bed 6 speed manual.
My question is if it is not slidein camper certified will I be able to modify it to make it slide in camper safe?
Does not seem like it would take to much to do it. When you look at the options for a new trucks under the Camper package option the only thing it lists is Heavy Service Front Springs all for the low price of $160.00
Thanks for any help

You can haul a camper on your truck without the certification. The F350's already have the overload rear springs and sway bar so you should be fine there. I don't know why Ford doesn't provide frame-mount tie down anchors and camper wiring in their 'camper package', since those are probably the 2 most important things you need for camper hauling, along with wide mirrors... I wouldn't worry about the front springs, campers put most of thier weight on the rear axle anyways. You didn't say if yours is a dually or a single wheel. If you're hauling a really heavy camper with a single wheel truck, you might want air bags for the rear and heavy duty shocks to reduce leaning. Duallies are usually stable enough as is. My old Chevy dually hauled my 10.5-11' camper great.
