What would completely kill all power from the battery? no dome light, no nothin!!!!! I'm sure a dead short somewhere but is there a relay or something? Driving me nuts trying to find it!
Did you find the battery battery dead? or does it have full charge?
If the battery is good (full charge) take a look at my recent posts.
I just went trough a no start problem , something very simalar. I never found a short or broken part. The problem (so far) has gone away. I did take off and reseat almost all the major cables and wires in the starting circuit. Checked and reseated all the fuses. I found the (-)battery cable did have some corrosion about 6-8"into the cable. The only thing i didn't test was my key switch.

A bad Blower Motor Relay has been known to do this.
If you believe you have a drain, you can make sure by getting a testlight and hooking it up like this. Make sure the door is shut and the hood light if you have one is unplugged. If you have a newer truck, make sure the accessory delay relay has timed out.
If the testlight does show a drain, pull each fuse individually and see if you can get the drain to go away. It you can't find it with pulling the fuses, take the wires off the alternator and see if the light goes out.
Thanks Franklin2,
I tried that test and turned out ok. What i found was that i had an intermittant battery ground issue. i had some corrosion down the wire, under the pvc coating. I cut back the coating and cleaned the wire. But i guess there was enought residual corrosion to interupt the starting circuit, and create a no-start. I used a grinder on the frame and installed a new ground cable and for good contact. I haven't had any no-start issues in 2 weeks.
Long story short change the battery cables if you see corrosion leaching down under the plastic coating of the wire.
