Hi Every1. I hope I am posting this in the right place. If not, I'm sure someone will let me know where I should be posting.
I have a 1966 Ford 60 passenger bus. I dont have the paperwork on it yet so I am trying to identify what V8 engine it has in it. I have looked all over and have yet to find a tag with a vin on it.
Any ideas where I can locate some ID on the engine? I did have some numbers on the intake manifold but they dont mean anything to me. They are:
G5TE 9425-F
I have found no other numbers but the engine is still in the bus so if it is somewhere on the engine then I may not be able to see it currently.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Oh and this is a Blue Bird Midwest Body No I 67138 Factory Serv No I22188.
Thanks again for any info...

Reason: I identified it as blue bell and it should be blue bird
The bus is registered by its specific VIN, so it will be printed on the registration/title. Post what it is.
Bus: VIN will begin with a B, followed by 10 digits. Example: B60CV123456 / The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code / V8 is an FT engine, only installed in 500 and larger series trucks. 1964/78: There are FOUR different FT's.
The intake manifold casting number you posted begins with a C (C5TE-9425-F), not a G. It's related to 1965 trucks (C5TE), but the same number could have been used for many years after the fact.
Casting numbers are foundry marks, cannot be cross referenced to Ford part numbers. Are usually WORTHLESS for ID'ing the engine size and what vehicles it was installed in.
You may find 352 cast onto the block...doesn't mean a damn thing as most of these FT (and FE) engines were cast as 352's. 352's are FE engines, were not installed in anything larger than an F350.
I apologize to anyone having read this post. I identified it as having a blue bell body and it should have said blue bird...were was my mind? haha...sorry! And thanks again in advance for any info.
Blue Bird, Crown Coach, Flxible or whatever body maker has nothing to do with what engine the bus has, as four different optional FT engines were available:
330 2V Medium Duty (C) / 330 2V Heavy Duty (D) / 361 2V (E) / 391 4V (F).
VIN engine codes in parenthesis are related to 1966/72. 1964/65's used different codes.
The standard equipment engine would have been the 240 I-6 (B500/600) or 300 I-6 (B700/750).
Bill (Number Dummy) thanks for the info. Is there some way for me to identify what the engine is without having the VIN? Perhaps somewhere on the engine itself?
I dont have the title on the vehicle yet and I have so far been unable to locate any kind of tag with the VIN info on it. I did see one post on another site that indicated there may be some info on the rear of the frame so I am going to go crawl under it and see if I find anything there. Not sure that will help with the engine ID though.
I just got your 2nd post with the vin info in it. So I guess there is no way to look at the engine and identify what it is without pulling heads and checking bore etc?
Heavy duty vs light duty can be determined externally also.if the timing cover and water pump are integrally mounted then hd...light duty have water pump and tc seperate ....more like...um....a chevy small block arrangement.
